British Columbia's Property Transfer Tax is paid when you register a transfer of land at the Land Title Office. It is 1% on the first $200,000, 2% on $200,001–$2,000,000, and 3% above $2,000,000.
What is the Ontario Land Transfer Tax?
Ontario charges a Land Transfer Tax (LTT) starting at 0.5% on the first $55,000 up to 2.5% on amounts above $2,000,000. Toronto buyers also pay a Municipal LTT equal to the provincial LTT.
Do first-time buyers get a rebate in Ontario?
Yes. Ontario first-time buyers receive a rebate of up to $4,000 on the provincial LTT. Toronto first-time buyers can also get a rebate of up to $4,475 on the municipal LTT.
Is there a property transfer tax in Alberta?
Alberta does not have a provincial land transfer tax. However, you do pay a small land title transfer fee based on the property value.
